Privacy Policy
The short version
- Your work in LoadBit (templates, saved loads, broker notes, history) stays in your own browser. We never receive it.
- Your LoadBit account keeps your email address, your name, your free trial and your plan.
- LoadBit sends an email only when you start one. It cannot read, list or delete your mailbox. In Gmail it looks only at the subject of the email you have open, in your browser, to show that email's load.
- No ads, no analytics, no tracking, and we sell nothing about you.
01Who we are
LoadBit is a Chrome extension and website for truck dispatchers, operated by [Company legal name] ("LoadBit", "we", "us"). Questions about this policy go to privacy@loadbit.io.
02What stays in your browser
These are kept in Chrome's storage for LoadBit, on your computer. We never receive them, and uninstalling LoadBit deletes them:
- your carrier profiles (name, company, MC number, email address, phone, signature, costs);
- email templates, drafts, saved loads and load notes;
- broker labels, notes and ratings, your factoring list and your contact history;
- the Rate Confirmations you read with LoadBit (read inside the extension, never uploaded), your FMCSA lookups, filters and settings.
The load board. LoadBit reads the loads shown on DAT One, Truckstop, Sylectus, Loadlink, Super Dispatch and TruckSmarter in your browser, to work out rate per mile and profit and to fill in your emails. What it reads is not sent to us.
In Gmail. LoadBit adds its icon to Gmail's side panel. To show the load an email was about, it reads the subject, the thread number and the email addresses shown in the email you have open, in your browser, and compares them with the emails you sent with LoadBit. It does not read the text of your emails, keeps nothing from Gmail, and sends nothing from Gmail to us or anyone else.
03Your LoadBit account
To use LoadBit you sign in at app.loadbit.io, or from the extension, which opens it. We keep:
- your email address and the name you give;
- how you sign in: a password (only as a one-way scrypt hash, never the password itself), and which Google or Microsoft account you connected;
- when your free trial started and ends, and your subscription (plan, status, renewal date, number of dispatchers);
- on a Business plan, the email addresses of the dispatchers you give a seat to.
- the browsers signed in to your account (the kind of browser, when it signed in and when it was last used).
When you sign in with Google or Microsoft, we receive your name, your email address and a number that identifies your account there, and nothing else. We email you only about your account: confirming your address, sign-in links and password resets.
To give one free trial per person, we keep a record that an email address had its trial, even after that account is deleted.
Business teams. When the owner of a Business plan adds your email address, we keep it on their account and email you once to say you have a seat. The owner sees your address and whether you have signed up for LoadBit, nothing else from your account or your browser.
Freemium. On Freemium, the extension counts the emails and MC checks of the day in your browser, to keep to the daily limits; that count is not sent to us.
04Sending with Gmail or Outlook
When you verify a Gmail or Outlook address, Google's or Microsoft's own window asks you to let LoadBit send email on your behalf. LoadBit asks for sending only (Gmail's gmail.send, Microsoft's Mail.Send) and your basic account details, to check that the account you picked is the one you named. It cannot read, list or delete your email.
The access this gives lasts about an hour. It is kept in your browser's memory and session storage, which Chrome clears when it closes, and it is never sent to us. When you send, the message goes straight from your browser to Google or Microsoft.
Google user data. LoadBit's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. The only Google data LoadBit uses is your email address and the permission to send the emails you start. It is not used for anything else, not shared, and not used for advertising.
05Yahoo, AOL, Fastmail and other mail servers
These providers only allow sending through their mail server, which a browser extension cannot reach, so the LoadBit server does it for you:
- When you verify, your address and app password travel once, encrypted (https), to the LoadBit server, which signs in to your provider to check them.
- The server returns your login locked with a key only it has. Your browser keeps only that locked copy.
- Each email you send that way (recipients, subject, text and your sender name) passes through the LoadBit server to your provider. It is not stored.
- To limit abuse, the server counts requests per network address, per email address and, on Freemium, per account, in memory only, and drops each count after about a day.
06Payments
Subscriptions are paid through Stripe. Stripe takes and keeps your card; we never see it. We receive your plan, the number of dispatchers on it, the subscription's status and renewal date, and a Stripe customer number. See Stripe's privacy policy.
07Broker checks and links you open
When you check a broker, the MC or USDOT number or the name you typed is sent to the U.S. Department of Transportation's public SAFER site (safer.fmcsa.dot.gov).
Route opens Google Maps with the places in the address. The route maps (LoadBit Map, Gmail and Saved loads) are drawn by Google Maps, which receives the places of the route (your truck, the pickup, any stops and the delivery) to draw it. On LoadBit Map the map is a page of this website, loadbit.io/route-map.html, which passes the places to Google in your browser; they are not sent to our server. The route Google finds is kept in your browser for a week, so the same route is not asked for again. Email without direct sending opens a Gmail draft with the message in the address. These are covered by Google's own privacy policy.
Contact support. When you write to us from the extension, your message, your email address, the name you give and, if you leave that box ticked, LoadBit's version, your browser and which load boards you chose go through the LoadBit server to our support mailbox, support@loadbit.io. Never your loads, brokers or emails. We use it only to answer you.
Every few hours the extension asks our server which plan your account is on and whether your trial or plan is still running. That request carries only your extension's sign-in.
Page checks. On a load board's results page, LoadBit checks now and then that it still finds the board's grid, columns and buttons, so that when a board changes its page we can fix LoadBit quickly. When a check fails (and now and then when all is well), it is sent to our server: which parts were found, LoadBit's version, the page's path and, after a failure, the names of the page's parts (such as "a grid with a column named postedRate"), with a random number for your browser. It never holds a load, a broker, an email, anything you typed, or your account. Switch it off in the dashboard: Settings, "Help keep LoadBit working". The extension also fetches from our server the list of the boards' part names (the board map), which holds no data about you.
10How long we keep it
- Your account: until you delete it.
- Website sessions: up to 30 days. Extension sign-ins: until you sign out, or after 180 days unused.
- Emailed links: from 20 minutes (sign-in links) to 2 days (confirming an address).
- The record of each address's free trial: kept after an account is deleted, only to give one trial per person.
- Stripe's notices about your subscription: 30 days.
- Emails sent through the LoadBit server: not kept.
- Support messages: in our support mailbox while we help you; ask us and we delete them.
11Security
Everything travels over https. Passwords are kept only as scrypt hashes; sessions, sign-in links and extension sign-ins are random tokens of which we keep only a hash; mail-server logins are locked with AES-256. No system is perfectly secure, so write to support@loadbit.io if you find a problem.
12Your rights and choices
- At app.loadbit.io you can see and change your account, sign out any browser, and delete your account. Cancel a running subscription first, in Manage billing.
- In the extension, Disconnect on an email forgets its sign-in and its locked login. Settings, Download a backup exports your work (never sign-ins).
- To remove LoadBit's permission at your provider: Google (myaccount.google.com/permissions) or Microsoft (account.microsoft.com/privacy/app-access). Delete an app password in your provider's security settings.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your information, and to object to certain processing. Write to privacy@loadbit.io and we will answer within 30 days.
13Children and changes
LoadBit is a business tool and is not directed to children under 16.
When this policy changes, we update this page and its effective date. We will email you before a change that affects how we use information you already gave us.
